Three Philippine troops were injured in the latest China Coast Guard water cannon attack on a Filipino supply vessel near a South China Sea reef, ANC reporter said on Monday, March 25.
The Filipino troops who were injured in the water cannon attack are directly affected by the incident, with their safety and well-being at risk.
Using water cannons to target a Filipino supply vessel, the attack involved the China Coast Guard, causing injuries to the three Philippine soldiers.
“Due to China’s growing aggression in the South China Sea, we continue to rally international support to our side,” Jay Batongbacal, Director of the University of the Philippines Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea said.
The water cannon attack happened as a result of China’s growing aggression in the South China Sea and its disregard for international maritime laws.

It was motivated by China’s desire to assert dominance in the South China Sea and challenge the territorial claims of other countries, including the Philippines.
The incident took place near a South China Sea reef, a disputed area claimed by both the Philippines and China.
It’s exact date and time of the attack have not been disclosed, but it occurred recently according to the ANC News report.

Director of the UP Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea revealed that the Philippines is opting to create a sub-ASEAN group to help them enforce their rights for the West Philippine Sea in an interview on Monday, Jay Batongbacal said.
The Philippines has decided to create a sub-ASEAN group to enforce its rights in the West Philippine Sea, which is currently being encroached upon by China.
Batongbacal emphasized that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) consists of a division of opinion regarding the Philippines’ feud with China.
“Kasama sa mga activities and programs naming ang pamimigay ng educational assistance sa ating mga estudyante. Bukod sa ating mga estudyante, namimigay din kami ng 500 pesos per month sa ating mga IP na high schools students na magsisilbing allowance nila,” he said.
Agatep also mentioned that aside from the educational assistance, they also offer scholarship grants especially to IP learners.
“Bukod sa congressional and provincial na nagbibigay ng mga assistance sa ating mga estudyante, nagbibigay din kami ng mga scholarship grants sa mga IP students pati na rin ang mga estudyanteng nahihirapan,” he stated.

When asked about their funds for Education, the Local Chief Executive revealed that they have an estimated budget of P1.5 million which is allotted to be divided on the sectors of academics, sports, and other curricular activities.
“Yung funds namin for education,nagda-dive siya sa iba’t ibang categories- sa academics, sa sports, at sa iba pang mga curricular activities natin. Nakabudget siya amounting 1.5 Million pero dahil kinulang, kinailangan naming siyang dagdagan at naging P2M na,” he said.
“Binibigyan din namin ng pondo ang ating mga Alternative Learning System (ALS) students. Malaking tulong ito sa ating mga kabataan pati na rin ang mga students na nasa ALS,” he added.

Saying that agriculture has been their main source of income, Agatep said that they have brought back the industry for cocoa, coconuts, and bamboos.
“Yung main source of income natin ay sa agricultural lalo na sa mga palay at mais. During my second term, we divert and binuhay naming muli ang cocoa industry, coconut industry, at bamboo industry,” he stated.
The Municipal Mayor further reiterated that they tapped into difference government officials and agencies to assist them on providing the needs in both education and agricultural sector.
“Hindi naman kaya kung LGU lamang ang magpoprovide sa mga kinakailangan natin. Kailangan din natin ng suporta sa lahat ng officials at ahensya para mas maimplement ng maigi ang ating mga proyekto,” he said.

The Philippines continues to fight for its claims over the West Philippine Sea as the President of the Philippines Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr continues to strengthen the Philippines’ ties with foreign nations to seek potential allies and moral and physical support against China’s aggression in the heated territorial battle for control of the West Philippine Sea according to a report from ANC news on March 26.
As of now, countless Injuries and fatalities have been the result of this territorial conflict while hundreds of businesses and lives have been risked by such injuries. A more recent report from ANC news shows that 3 Filipino soldiers were injured during a water canon barrage from Chinese vessels.
According to the reporter, the president has already been attempting to forge closer ties with foreign country’s countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia and will even attempt talks with Washington and Tokyo.
The President will do so through talks with foreign officials and leaders in an array of political meetings and scheduled summits. Marcos is even said to have attended a trilateral summit with Washington and Tokyo to discuss their approaches, bonds, and aid to the situation.

“These are all causes of the conduct of Foreign Relations and what is happening now is that the Philippines has become more proactive than passive instead of merely being passive in building up these networks for joint and cooperative action and providing moral and material support which are important in building a strong and resilient international community that relies on the rule of law and considers all its members as equal,” according to Maritime Specialist Jay Batongbacal.
The trilateral summit is said to be scheduled for somewhere in the month of April and it will include major officials from Washington and Tokyo respectively.
The location of the summit however was not disclosed nor hinted at by the reporter or the interviewed specialist.
